Connecticut - Part One

After leaving Boise we headed south towards Salt Lake City. We stopped for a night at a State Park just north of the city to pack and clean up the RV before we left it and flew east for a month. We had not been out of the RV since Easter so we had a bit to do. Next day we left the RV in some long term parking and booked into a hotel near the airport for a night before flying through Chicago to Providence in Rhode Island. From there it was about an hour back to Rob’s Dad’s in Plainfield Connecticut.

We tried to time our visit to see the famous New England fall. As you can see from our pictures we managed. They certainly don’t get all the early Christmas stuff in the shops here. They are too busy with the fall, harvest festivals, pumpkins, Halloween and then they have to fit in Thanksgiving before getting to Christmas.  On arrival Symi started planning for Halloween – it is big here. She has already decided she is going as a black cat.

It has been lovely to catch up with John (Rob’s dad) and his wife Rae again. They have made us very welcome in their house although if Rae gives Symi any more stuffed toys we will need to come back by container ship. For the record Rae swears it is not her and she does not know where they are coming from!

Symi has also been very happy playing with the 4 dogs. The Yorkie, Bella has all sorts of dog outfits which Symi has been dressing her in. Even better Symi has found an 11 year old friend down the road – Lori. They have been playing weddings with the (reluctant) dogs and Lori has come on a couple of outings with us. She has provided Symi with some much needed relief from the company of her Mum and Dad.

As well as going for some lovely walks among the fall leaves we have been on a couple of outings to nearby attractions. One was the corn maze which both the girls enjoyed. We have never seen so much corn or so many pumpkins. We completed the maze a few times racing each other in teams.
Instead of a ball area they use corn - yes they can get in!

After a very generous offer from John and Rae to have Symi for a couple of nights Fiona and Rob went on a mini break (yes Terri that’s for you!) in Boston which we will post about next.

After Boston we had a day out to the Essex Steam Train and River Boat with John. We all enjoyed this immensely with the fall colours being spectacular.
